New at #TeamMCPSS: Assistant Principals Network |
|
|
Superintendent Chresal D. Threadgill and his Leadership Team have launched a new professional development program called the MCPSS Assistant Principals Network. More than 100 assistant principals from schools across Mobile County will meet monthly to hone their leadership skills and to learn about the state standards for school leadership. Their first meeting was held last week at the Cypress Auditorium, covering topics including Strategic Planning for Improvement; the Administrator’s Role in Assessing Needs; and Professional Ethics. They learned how to respond to scenarios they may encounter, and also participated in leadership lab. |

Many MCPSS schools participated in Statewide Parenting Day on Monday, hosting campus tours, picnic lunches, math challenges, and more. Alabama recognizes October as Statewide Parenting Month, emphasizing the importance of parent-teacher communication and collaborative relationships.
For its part, the district has launched a new communication tool for parents called Rooms. Available through the new Mobile County Public Schools app, Rooms provides one location for parents to connect with teachers of all of their child’s subjects as well as with sponsors of the clubs and organizations in which their child participates. The app also has a link to My PowerHub, where parents can access student grade and attendance data. Information about Rooms and the new app, including how to log on and answers to frequently asked questions, is available here: Rooms | Mobile County Public Schools and here: Rooms Questions | Mobile County Public Schools.

During National School Lunch Week, many of our schools celebrated with festive decorations and themed menus. The theme was “Taste the World,” which gave students a chance to enjoy some of their favorite foods inspired by other countries.
School Lunch Week is also a time to thank our CNP managers and cafeteria workers, who do such a great job feeding our students breakfast and lunch each day. We appreciate you!
